Deputy Chief Judge Craig Coxhead

Judge Craig Coxhead was appointed to the Māori Land Court in 2008 and is the resident Judge for the Waiariki District, based in Rotorua. A graduate of the University of Waikato with Honours in Law and a Master of Laws, he previously practised in Treaty of Waitangi, Māori land and civil litigation before becoming a senior lecturer at Waikato Law School. Judge Coxhead is a former President of Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa and currently serves as a member of the Waitangi Tribunal, presiding over the Te Paparahi o Te Raki Inquiry. He also holds judicial appointments as Chief Justice of Niue and a Justice of the High Court of the Cook Islands.
