Justice Sir Joe Williams

Justice Sir Joe Williams was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2019, following appointments to the Court of Appeal, High Court and Māori Land Court, where he also served as Chief Judge. He is a former Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal and has held significant leadership roles within the Māori legal community. In 2020, he was appointed a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the judiciary.
